Bear Lake and the Great Salt Lake.
Because of the gruesome weather forecasts predicting flash flood for southern Utah, we opted to head north to Bear Lake which lies half in Utah and half in Idaho. We were surprised that this huge lake was so undeveloped. We then went south through the congestion known as Salt Lake City and on a good tip we drove out onto the lake via a causeway to Antelope Island. There was room at the campground and we learned about brine shrimp harvesting on the lake. That night we had a visit in the campground by several large, wild bison or buffalo. I thought about the safety of the young couple that were there sleeping in their small tent. We saw antelope as well as the bison and then were treated with a spectacular sunset during a rain storm.
We are retired and spend several months each year traveling in our truck camper to places where we can hike, bike and kayak and the rest of the time we do other stuff like yoga, Brazilian Jiujitsu, RC airplanes and helicopters, cooking and reading.
