2014 Trip Out West.
We left Raleigh near the end of August and made a beeline for my hometown of
Boulder, Colorado. In Boulder we visited with my dad (93 years old) and some of my old friends from high school. I went on a mountain bike ride with my friend Steve and the next day climbed the First Flatiron with my younger brother Dave (super rock climber). The First is an 1,100 foot high sandstone rock which is characterized by smooth friction climbing, very little protection and long leader run outs. It ends with a long free rappel from the summit.
We are retired and spend several months each year traveling in our truck camper to places where we can hike, bike and kayak and the rest of the time we do other stuff like yoga, Brazilian Jiujitsu, RC airplanes and helicopters, cooking and reading.
